BOTOX®

BOTOX is one of our most popular treatments because it is proven to reduce wrinkles, frown lines, and furrows while maintaining natural facial movement.

About BOTOX

BOTOX is derived from clostridium botulinum, which prevents signals from nerve cells to reach the muscles, therefore paralyzing them. The active ingredient in BOTOX is onabotulinumtoxinA. Other ingredients include human albumin, which is a protein found in human blood plasma, and sodium chloride. BOTOX received FDA approval in 1989, and it quickly became one of the most iconic and recognized brands. Now, both men and women receive BOTOX worldwide to serve many medical and aesthetic purposes.

BOTOX can

  • Reduce the appearance of wrinkles, frown and forehead lines, and crow’s feet
  • Treat neck spasms
  • Address excessive sweating
  • Treat chronic migraines
  • Allow you to retain natural and expressive facial movement
  • Treat drooping eyelids (Visit our blepharoplasty page if you have specific eyelid-related issues or a decreased range of vision due to your eyelids)

If you have areas of your face that lack volume, you may be interested in dermal fillers. Visit our JUVÉDERM® page to learn more.

The Most Experienced BOTOX Providers

Dr. Chapman is one of the most sought-after providers of BOTOX in the area; he trains our staff at The Facial Center and teaches other medical professionals proper injection techniques nationwide. Clients will be seen by Dr. Chapman or our registered cosmetic nurse for their BOTOX treatment.

What to expect with BOTOX

BOTOX injections typically only take 10 minutes. Using a tiny micro-needle, a minuscule amount of serum is injected into the facial muscles. The needle used for the BOTOX is very thin, making sedation or local anesthetic unnecessary. Comfort is enhanced by applying a topical anesthetic or an ice pack a few minutes before the treatment.

Normal daily activities can be resumed immediately after BOTOX as long as an upright position is maintained. However, you should not work out for several hours after your treatment. You may begin to notice slight changes within 24 to 48 hours, but full results may take up to 2 weeks.

Most individuals can expect significant wrinkle reduction for about 4 months following BOTOX injections. To maintain the desired effects, BOTOX should be repeated every 3 or 4 months. Results tend to be longer-lasting with subsequent treatments.

Side effects of BOTOX may include slight bruising at the injection site or a mild headache. These conditions are temporary and gradually subside within a day or two. Please contact us if symptoms last longer than 24 hours.
