JUVÉDERM

Facial lines and wrinkles, as well as less full cheeks and lips, can make you appear older than you are or than you want to seem. Modern advances in cosmetic procedures enable us to restore youthful skin with minimal downtime.

One of the ways we accomplish this at The Facial Center is through the use of injections such as JUVÉDERM®. JUVÉDERM is a dermal filler composed of a high concentration of hyaluronic acid, a natural substance that occurs in the body and attracts moisture. It also stimulates your body’s production of collagen. Typically used to reduce fine lines and wrinkles around the mouth and add volume to the lips and cheeks, JUVÉDERM can yield results that last for several months up to more than a year.

Types of JUVÉDERM

The area of your face where you want to focus treatment will determine which of several JUVÉDERM products will be used.

For instance, VOLUMA® XC lifts and contours the cheeks by adding volume to the face. The effects can last up to two years.

If you want to smooth the smile lines around your mouth and the wrinkles near your nose, our medical practitioners will select JUVÉDERM XC. The results will be good for up to one year. The best option for softening deeper lines and wrinkles is VOLLURE™ XC. You could enjoy the benefits of your first treatment for as many as 18 months.

For fuller lips and a reduction in vertical lip lines, try VOLBELLA® XC. Its effects can remain for one year with optimal treatment. ULTRA XC also increases lip volume, along with smoothing wrinkles in the mouth and nose area. It too lasts up to one year.

In all cases, during your consultation, our medical practitioner will guide you to the best option for your problem area.

How the Procedure Works

Before your first treatment, you will want to take some preventative measures to decrease negative side effects, especially bruising. Alcohol consumption and smoking, as well as taking aspirin, ibuprofen, and St. John’s wort, should be avoided for a few weeks before your scheduled procedure.

After your consultation, which involves taking your medical history and assessing where you want to see results from JUVÉDERM, we will likely begin your procedure. It will start with the practitioner marking with a pen where the injections will be made. Then the needle containing the medicine will be inserted in the appropriate areas. Lidocaine, a pain-reducer, is included in the injection so you will not feel the full effects of the procedure.

The practitioner will then massage the treated areas lightly to make sure the medicine is evenly distributed and to help prevent swelling.

You can expect to be released within 15 to 60 minutes, depending on what procedures you had done.

Results will be visible right after your treatment. In order to recover quickest, wait 24 hours before drinking alcohol, exercising strenuously, or wearing makeup.
