With our eyes being such a prominent feature on our faces, it’s no wonder that we want them to look good. Our eyes are often the first thing people notice about our appearance, so we want to ensure the skin around our eyes doesn’t make us look older than we are. This skin is delicate and very susceptible to signs of aging, such as wrinkles, sagging skin, puffiness, and fine lines. All of these conditions can make us look older than we actually are, but they can be treated with a blepharoplasty procedure. You might consider blepharoplasty if droopy or sagging eyelids keep your eyes from opening fully or pull down your lower eyelids. Blepharoplasty can remove excess tissue from your upper eyelids and improve your vision and make your eyes appear younger and more alert.

What is Blepharoplasty?


A blepharoplasty, more commonly known as an eyelid lift, can help reduce the signs of aging around the eyes. In some cases, patients will undergo a blepharoplasty in conjunction with another treatment, such as a brow lift, to ensure optimal results. During an eyelid lift, your doctor can get rid of bags under the eyes, correct sagging eyelids, and remove excess fat or skin from the area.

At your consultation, your doctor will examine the area around the eyes, taking any wrinkles, sagging, or excess skin into account. He will examine your eyelid and facial structure and get to know your treatment goals so he can develop a personalized treatment plan. During your procedure, you will be sedated, usually with IV or general anesthesia, so that you can’t feel anything. Your doctor will make small incisions around the eyelids and carefully remove fatty tissue and excess skin to help lift the eyelids and restore their youthful appearance. After you receive blepharoplasty treatment, you will recover for a short time in our office and be sent home later that day to rest so that you can enjoy the more youthful appearance in your face and eye region.
